Foreign University Bill is apprehensive—SIO

Press Release

The foreign university bill passed in the cabinet is apprehensive, expressed the National Secretariat of SIO. The HRD Minister Kapil Sibal views that the bill if passed in parliament would be a revolution larger than the one in the telecom sector. This statement itself shows that the bill will be a green signal for tough competitions in the ‘education industry’ to earn large profits. The biggest problem faced by the Indian society is that higher education is reachable only for those who fall in the right hands of economic affordability and so a large section of Indian society has been marginalized. The bill if implemented will only help to intensify the current state of affairs. Commercialization of education had ruined many Indians and replaced talents by “capitation fee”. SIO is also apprehensive of the invasion of western culture, ethics and values along with the western universities.
It is condemnable that all the recent bills tabled in parliament are controversial, without proper discussions and debates and that fulfils imperial and elite agenda, which includes bill on nuclear liability bill, (GM) seeds bill and the foreign university bill. It clearly reveals the attitude of slavery of UPA government to United States. It is quiet apprehensive that since Kapil Sibal took charge of HRD Ministry, many crucial decisions with regard to education were taken all of a sudden, without any democratic means of debates and discussions amongst the public. SIO National Secretariat said in the statement that the bills related to education to be tabled in parliament – Educational tribunal bill, Accreditation bill, Prohibition of Unfair Practices in Technical, Medical Educational Institutions and of course allowing the setting up of foreign universities bill should not be nod without proper discussions and debates.

Bhatkal: Peace and harmony has become an important issue in today’s world so much so that the basic necessities of life i.e. food, cloth and shelter are not given as much importance. Violence along with terrorism has become a real threat in this era. Islam is the sole religion which guarantees real peace and harmony to the world. If there a message of peace in any religion then it is Islam. Islam did not commence with Prophet Mohammad (SAW) as it is widespread among the masses including Muslims, but with Prophet Adam (AS), the first human being on the earth, and was completed with Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Countless prophets and many messengers have arrived in this world in between, including Prophet Jesus Christ (AS), and all had preached Islam, stated Moulana Sanaullah Madani, a well-known orator of PeaceTV channel. He was addressing here in public function for Message of Peace-to the mankind held in ground opposite to TFC, at NH-17 in Bhatkal.

The function was a part of the Bhatkal unit of Student Islamic Organization of India (SIO), a series of three day long public function and exhibition held on the central theme of Salvation, from darkness to light. between from 5th to 7th of March.

In his keynote speech, Moulana Sanaullah Madani further said that Islam is all in all peace and one would find the references, teaching, directing its follower for peace and harmony. Moulana Sanaullah Madani further said that the real reason for the people’s heart lacking peace and harmony in today’s world is that they lack idea of unity of god and the fear of the Day of Judgment. He said that Until people they understand two things i.e. idea of unity of god and the fear of the Day of Judgment, they will not attain peace and harmony, he said.

To get peace in society and outer world, one should have these in their own hearts, and this can only be attained through the idea of unity of God. The peace can be maintained only if the teaching of Islam is implemented, in the world, he averred.

In his forceful speech, the orator of PeaceTV further said that Genghis Khan and Hitler had brutally killed millions of people, as their hearts lacked the idea of unity of god and the fear of the day of the judgment. He said that in today’s world former US president, George W Bush has killed millions of people in Afghanistan and Iraq in the name of it’s so-called ‘War on terrorism’, for the same reason. Those who have understood these two concepts can never become terrorists. Muslim can’t turn to terrorism as they fear the day of the judgment, Moulana Sanaullah said.

He further said that in today’s world the concept of justice had totally changed.

If Muslims fight for their fundamental rights and come forward to defend them, it’s described as terrorism and violence, while on the other hand those who invaded their (Muslim’s) land and launched attacks on them are described as ‘Peace-Keepers’. According to the self-styled system of today’s so-called ‘peace-keepers’, if Palestinians fights for their rights they are terrorists, while the Israelis who have forcibly occupied their land, attack and kill the defenders of the land and even innocent civilians, then it is called as peace-keeper. The whole world is very well aware of oppressive treatment of the prisoners of Abu-Gharib prison in Iraq, by the so-called Peace-keeper, he said.

Countless people all over the world are committing suicides. However, the percentage of Muslim committing suicide is less than one percent. The logic behind this is that Muslims have peace of mind while others do not.

In his forceful speech, Moulana Madani called the non-Muslims to study and understand Islam.

The function commenced on Friday at 9 pm with the recitation of the holy versus of Quran with translation. Moulavi Sayed Qutub Barmavar Nadvi later presented a keynote speech by Mr. Azharuddin, the national secretary of SIO of India on the topic of ‘Capitalistic Imperialism and Muslim Students & youths’. While Moulana Muhammad Ansar Madani, the president of Bhatkal Muslim Youth Federation, called the youth to rise and spread the teaching of peace all over the world. Mr. Atharullah Shareef, the general secretary of Jamaat e Islami Hind Karnataka & Goa delivered the presidential address. The program came to an end with the Dua by Quazi Jamaathul Muslimeen Bhatkal and the thanks-giving speech by Riyaz Ron, the ex-district organizer of SIO. Mr. Qamruddin Mashaikh anchored the function.

More than two thousand people attended the function of the first day.

Press Conference at Bangalore

Central and State Governments must adopt policy of inclusive development: SIO

The central and state governments must act swiftly to curb the widening injustice in the country demands SIO of India. The shocking reveal made by Suresh Tendulkar report which puts the poverty estimates of India to 42%. This would mean that more than one third of the population of India is in poverty. This also reveals the duality of the propaganda of ‘stunning achievements of development’ of India. Despite the increase in GDP, Starvation deaths and farmers suicide are increasing day by day. Globalization has proved itself to be synonym to impoverishment. Wealth of nation is being concentrated to few hands. In a poor country like India, education is suffering from commercialization.

Our Government should not treat education as an industry. It is at this particular point of time to create awareness about the dangerous impacts of capitalistic imperialism on individual, society, culture, environment and politics in general and on students and educational system in specific SIO of India has launched a campaign with the title ‘Students Voice for a Just World’.

After government allowing foreign direct investment (FDI) in key sectors such as telecom, food processing and even retail, our human resource development minister Mr.Kapil Sibal is strongly in favor of allowing FDI in India’s education sector. It will lead to huge commercialization of education and a cultural attack on India. All the recent issues including demands of new states, Naxalism are strong indicators of deepening social injustice in our country. SIO Campaign will be a strong resistance of the student community against social injustice in our country. Capitalistic neo-imperialism and its neo-liberal policies have flooded the media and surroundings with vulgarity and obscenity. In a country where Director General of Police held guilty of molesting a teenage girl or Governor involved in sex racket whose headquarters are the Raj Bhavan itself, SIO believes there is need of socially sensitive student community who can raise their voice against all kind of injustice.

Br.Ashfaq Ahmed- State Convener of campaign, Br. Saadat Zaki Mulla- Zonal Secretary SIO Karnataka, Br. Farooq Sheikh- Joint Secretary SIO Karnataka and Syed Ishtiyaq Hassan- Public Relations Secretary were present in the Press Conferenece
