Press Conference at Bangalore

Central and State Governments must adopt policy of inclusive development: SIO

The central and state governments must act swiftly to curb the widening injustice in the country demands SIO of India. The shocking reveal made by Suresh Tendulkar report which puts the poverty estimates of India to 42%. This would mean that more than one third of the population of India is in poverty. This also reveals the duality of the propaganda of ‘stunning achievements of development’ of India. Despite the increase in GDP, Starvation deaths and farmers suicide are increasing day by day. Globalization has proved itself to be synonym to impoverishment. Wealth of nation is being concentrated to few hands. In a poor country like India, education is suffering from commercialization.

Our Government should not treat education as an industry. It is at this particular point of time to create awareness about the dangerous impacts of capitalistic imperialism on individual, society, culture, environment and politics in general and on students and educational system in specific SIO of India has launched a campaign with the title ‘Students Voice for a Just World’.

After government allowing foreign direct investment (FDI) in key sectors such as telecom, food processing and even retail, our human resource development minister Mr.Kapil Sibal is strongly in favor of allowing FDI in India’s education sector. It will lead to huge commercialization of education and a cultural attack on India. All the recent issues including demands of new states, Naxalism are strong indicators of deepening social injustice in our country. SIO Campaign will be a strong resistance of the student community against social injustice in our country. Capitalistic neo-imperialism and its neo-liberal policies have flooded the media and surroundings with vulgarity and obscenity. In a country where Director General of Police held guilty of molesting a teenage girl or Governor involved in sex racket whose headquarters are the Raj Bhavan itself, SIO believes there is need of socially sensitive student community who can raise their voice against all kind of injustice.

Br.Ashfaq Ahmed- State Convener of campaign, Br. Saadat Zaki Mulla- Zonal Secretary SIO Karnataka, Br. Farooq Sheikh- Joint Secretary SIO Karnataka and Syed Ishtiyaq Hassan- Public Relations Secretary were present in the Press Conferenece

“Students Voice for a Just World”

A CAMPAIGN AGAINST NEO-IMPERIALISM, 10th to 22nd Feb 2010

Imperialistic forces are exploiting human beings to accomplish their aggressive & sinister designs. Careerism, consumerism, lucrative advertising, web of MNC’s are different aspects of this design.

The culture based on outward dazzling and glamour has altered the psyche & priorities of people. This system based on economic interests and political domination has ransacked the educational system too.

Commercialization of education is another fallout of this. Disparaging student activism for petty corporate gains is today an important issue in campuses and politics.

Do not Privatize… “We & our Education are not for Sale!!!”

The culture and the way of living of students also get affected due to this phenomenon. Opportunities for poor students are getting lesser and deprived sections are still away from the fruits of education.

Let’s work for a Just Society in the light of Divine Guidance
In this environment, students’ struggle is indispensable for a change in environment. Besides awakening mass consciousness is also essential. Alternative to culture and system emanating out of these isms can only be provided by Islam.
Think, Talk & Resolve

Students’ Voice for Just World

Central and State Governments must adopt policy of inclusive development: SIO

New Delhi (13/01/2010): The central and state governments must act swiftly to curb the widening injustice in the country demanded Suhail K.K (National President, SIO of India) in a press conference held at New Delhi Press Club. The shocking reveal made by Suresh Tendulkar report which puts the poverty estimates of India to 37.5%. This would mean that more than one third of the population of India is in poverty. This also reveals the duality of the propaganda of ‘stunning achievements of development’ of India. SIO holds rally & conference on ‘Students voice for brotherhood’

The West Regional unit of the Students Islamic Organization of India (SIO), Karnataka Zone had organized a rally and convention, titled ‘Students Voice for Brotherhood’, at Board High School ground, here at 4.15 pm on Monday October 28.

Suhail K K, national president of SIO, inaugurated the convention.
Suhail noted that polarization of communal activities has been happening in the country in the recent past. “Terrorism can not be a lasting solution for various problems plaguing the country and its people. Nearly 37 percent of our countrymen belong to families living below poverty line, and the union government is expected to take earnest measures to improve their economic conditions. Efficient governance on the part of the people who run the government can alone quell the rising demand for the formation of more states, like in the case of of Telangana and Gorkhaland, demands for which are based on the local culture and the backwardness of these regions,” Suhail said.

Karnataka High Court retired judge, Justice M F Saldana, was the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Justice Saldanha said that the religious centers of minority community are being targetted across Karnataka since September 2008, in connivance with the communal forces, state administration and the police. “Innocent people have become the victims of police atrocities, and the state Governor is also worried over the rising incidents of attacks on worship centers of minority communities. Meanwhile, it is the responsibility of the state administration to put an end to such misadventures of communal forces. Although the minority community has contributed significantly towards educating the countrymen, the state has not been acknowledging their contributions, and has instead been abetting communal disharmony for political gains,” Justice Saldanha added.

“The media is expected to be sensitive while reporting communally sensitive matters, since in its absence, repercussions jeopardizing peace all over the country can occur. Naxals are the outcome of inequality plaguing the society in every sphere of life. Naxalism breeds by the blood of the poor youths, who try to bring equality by force, using weapons. The setting up of Mangalore Special Economic Zone (MSEZ) by forcefully acquiring fertile farmlands of the poor farmers of the coastal region, supported by the district administration and the brutal force of the policemen, has triggered anguish in the minds of the displaced families, which has the potential of causing bloodshed some day,” Justice Saldanha warned.

Mohammed Kunhi, convener of the youth wing of Jamaat-E-Islami Hind, also spoke at the occasion.

Shaukath Ali, state president of SIO – Karnataka zone, delivered the valedictory address.

Bilal Udupi, National Secretary of SIO, Sadat Zaki Mula,Zonal Secretary of SIO – Karnataka Zone, Syed Ishtiyaq, Public Relations Secretary of SIO – Karnataka Zone, Shahid M, Joint Secretary of SIO- Karnataka Zone, Akbar Ali Udupi, General Secretary of HRS and Iftiqar Ahmed, Secretary of SIO West Region – Karnataka zone were present at the occasion.
